The New Season for Baltimore Museum of Art's Print, Drawing & Photograph Society Begins!
Sherri Katz reports big news -- the new season for the Baltimore Museum of Art's Print, Drawing & Photograph Society begins this month - September 2006. There is a new curator and department head in the Department of Prints, Drawings and Photographs, Rena Hoisington, as well as a new assistant curator, Ann Shafer. For more information, contact Sherri Katz: skatz@artbma.org or visit that area of their web site.

The Print, Drawing & Photograph Society (PDPS), founded in l968, was the Museum's first collection support group. It fosters interest in the appreciation, collecting, and study of graphic arts, both historic and contemporary. The Society offers its members a continuing series of lectures by curators, critics, and artists, as well as frequent trips to visit special museum exhibitions and private collections. The PDPS supports educational programs for the Department of Prints, Drawings & Photographs and the acquisition of significant works on paper for the Museum collection. The society also sponsors the biennial Baltimore Fair for Contemporary Prints & New Editions to be held March 2008.

BTW -- No More Admission Fees!
By the way, effective Sunday October 1st the Baltimore Museum of Art, along with The Walters Art Museum, have announced that they will no longer charge an admission fee, thanks to a unique government partnership with Baltimore City and Baltimore County (with additional support from Anne Arundel County) that will provide greater access to these two world-class museums. The free period is scheduled to commence in conjunction with Free Fall Baltimore, a new arts initiative and cultural tourism program. Now we can all enjoy their shows even more often!
