The tenth anniversary celebration at Rockville Arts Place was a
huge success. The exhibit was filled with strong work and was
beautifully hung. The opening was well attended. Food was delicious,
and throughout the event we were entertained by an extraordinarily
talented group of musicians, "Jeanean Martin and family."
There was an awards ceremony, during which the past presidents of
Maryland Printmakers were presented with specially printed aprons,
and outgoing board and committee members were recognized for all their
hard work. Also on view was the 1999 exchange folio.
After the opening, printmakers stayed on for the annual fall meeting.
A new slate of officers was elected, committee reports were presented,
and then the party resumed. Linda Harrison-Parsons held a raffle of
all sorts of goodies donated by Guy Kuhn-fine art papers, Rembrandt
Graphic Arts, Graphic Chemicals, Dick Blick, Irish Graphics, D'UVA
Fine Artists Materials, Inc., Stones Crayons and Savoir Faire. We
thank them for their generous donations. Portfolios from past
exchanges were also raffled. Last, but not least, there was a
wonderful 10th anniversary cake.

and Richard Hellman look on.
The annual fall meeting was held at the Howard County Center for the Arts Oct.
25, 1998, in conjunction with the closing of the exhibition held there at the
time. The meeting was well attended and began with a wonderful brunch that seemed
to continue throughout the day. President Susan Goldman was introduced to the
members by Richard Hellman. The meeting began with a review of committee reports
and issues that have come before the board of directors. A vote was held to
increase member dues to $35 per year to help defray the cost of the newsletter.
It was also decided to increase the size of the newsletter to eight pages for one
year, to accommodate more graphics and member news. After one year the budget will
be reassessed to see if the newsletter will remain eight pages in length.
Following a brief lunch break, during which members could view and pick
up folios, Nannette Chapman Blinchikoff
presented her sales techniques as applied to the artist. She also had available
her two guides to promoting fine art in Maryland.
